Hi there! I'm Gavin and I am running for School Board!

I was born and raised in Sherrills Ford and I'm a proud product of Catawba County Schools. I currently pastor a small church in the Lake Norman area and work as a community organizer for a non-profit that supports educators in an effort to increase retention.  As a pastor, I have become an avid listener. As a young activist, I have an idealistic sense of hope to make Catawba County more representative of its constituents. Growing up here, I was taught what it is to be a model American citizen. Since middle school, not only was I a scout but I was repeatedly chosen to represent the student body in many forms of government. Various systems and elected officials across our county primed me for leadership in local government. The time has now come to manifest the votes of confidence in what our system nurtures.

I am running for the Catawba County Board of Education because I believe that we can always do better. We all want our school system to be its absolute best. Better schools, and more well-rounded scholars, will ultimately add wealth to each of our households. The Catawba County School system is currently the largest employer in the county. Each Catawba County citizen has stock in our local economy when we choose to refocus on our schools. My plan to Improve Connections in CCS focuses on four pillars for progress that will greatly impact not only our school system but also our county as a whole. Even amidst these trying times, preparing our children IS forging a more promising tomorrow.
